Graham ‘ready to go’ to confirm Trump nominees: Nation is ‘under attack’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) indicated that he is ready to get all of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees confirmed, citing how the nation is “under attack” while combating illegal immigration.

Following the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans, Louisiana, which killed over a dozen people celebrating the new year, incoming Senate majority leader Sen. John Thune (R-SD) and other Republican lawmakers have issued a call to expedite the confirmation of Trump’s national security team. When asked about his take on the confirmations, Graham said he was confident all of Trump’s nominees would get confirmed, and that he would like to do it “sooner rather than later.”

TRUMP BUILDS HIS CABINET OF DISRUPTORS

“The last four years have been a frigging disaster,” Graham said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, referencing the Biden administration. “They rolled back every policy that worked on the border. They went back into the Iran nuclear agreement, giving the Ayatollah hundreds of millions of dollars to use for terrorism, and yeah, the confirmations, do ’em now, do ’em quick. Get ’em all done in January, February. We feed our team on the field! We need an FBI director, we need an attorney general, we need them all. Get it done! We gotta get it done. We’re under attack here, we’re at war!”

When asked for confirmation on if he would vote for all of Trump’s nominees, Graham said he is “ready to go” to vote for them.

Graham has sounded the alarm for an attack on U.S. soil for several months now, warning back in September that the country would undergo “a 9/11 attack” if it did not change its leadership from President Joe Biden and his administration. He also expressed worry over the drone sightings taking place in New Jersey, stating he has “never been more worried” about an attack on the U.S. than he was over his concern on the drones.

Among Trump’s nominations for his security team are Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence, and Kash Patel as FBI director — all of whom are expected to undergo a tough confirmation process. Hegseth’s confirmation is currently scheduled to go first, and will take place on Jan. 14.

On New Year’s Eve, Trump called on Republican Senators to not fall for any of the “tricks” issued by the opposing party in the confirmation process, which he claimed Democrats are attempting to “improperly stall and delay.” Trump will officially return to the White House as president on Jan. 20, the date of his inauguration.
